Gluten Free Beer
Sorghum Liquid Malt Extract
Brewers Choice Gluten Free Beer Kits are made from Sorghum liquid malt extract syrup. White Sorghum syrup is derived from concentrated wort made from the un-malted grain of the white sorghum plant and not the cane of the plant. The syrup has been developed specifically for the production of Gluten Free Beer.
The syrup successfully mimics the brewing performance of conventional barley based liquid malt extracts because it was developed to provide the proteins and amino acids necessary for yeast nutrition, head retention, colour and flavour.
White Sorghum syrup may be used as a 1:1 substitute for light barley based liquid malt extract in any beer recipe and is the only gluten free syrup with the necessary colour, flavour, FAN and fermentability to produce a beer that closely mimics beer made from malted barely.
Other syrups made from tapioca or rice lack the necessary flavour, colour and FAN characteristics to to make a full bodied beer and in fact may pose fermentation challenges.
Sorghum liquid malt extract used in Brewers Choice recipes ensures the beer produced from the extract contains less than 5ppm gluten.
Here's what our customers had to say
Hello David
Just a quick note to thank you for introducing me to brewing gluten free beer. I recently brewed the Gluten Free Pale Ale, it was very easy to make, I didn't really need any specialised brewing equipment other than a fermentor, it had easy to follow instructions and I am extremely pleased with the quality of the gluten free beer. There is nothing better than after mowing the lawn to sit down in the back yard and have a glass or two of gluten free beer.
It is incredible nice be able to brew and drink a gluten free beer after what has been about 14 years without one.
Thanks

What another customer had to comment about gluten free beer
"My name is Stephen Darby and I have been brewing for about 8 years, the last 2 of which I have needed to get into Gluten Free brewing as I have been diagnosed as being Gluten Intolerant.
I started GF brewing using a rice recipe which I picked up from a semi-commercial brewing operation in NSW. I found the rice beer enjoyable and good for my health. About 6 months ago, I became aware of brewers in the US using Sorghum as a base for GF brewing. After some trawling of the internet I cam across your operation and now I am a convert to Sorghum.
I have now brewed twice with Sorghum once with my own recipe and the second using a variation of the Cascade Pale recipe from Brewers Choice and found the result far better than any other GF beer including commercially produced. It is still a little sweeter than normal beer, but it looks like beer, smells like beer and careful hopping gets it to be the closest thing I have found to real beer.
I would recommend Sorghum brewing to all home brewers that need a GF alternative and when you compare it to the commercial GF beer you won’t be disappointed.
