How to do an Extract Brew

Extract brewing gives the brewer complete flexibility in their choice of fermentable materials, steeping grains and hops. This puts you, the brewer, in control of the colour, the strength, the bitterness and the texture of your beer.

Extract brews involve more time and more equipment than your basic beer kit, but the results are worth the additional work. It also opens up for the brewer access to literally hundreds of home brew recipes developed, tried and tested by other brewers. As an example, check out the extract recipes from this excellent web page.

The following three videos gives a good introduction to the processes of extract brewing and once you do the metric conversions, you'll be able to do it all yourself too! This is a good metric conversion website that will do all the calculations for you.
