Brewers Choice Queensland Ale Mini-Mash
Ingrediants:
- Morgans Queensland Bitter Kit 1.7kg
- 1.5kg Australian Pilsner Malt Grain
- 0.5kg Light Munich Malt Grain
- 0.2kg Wheat Malt Grain
- 0.05kg Medium Crystal Malt Grain
- 10g Cluster hop pellets (flavour)
- 10g Cluster hop pellets (aroma)
- 1 x Whirlfloc Tablet
- 1 x Safale US56 Yeast
How to do it:
- The night before, refrigerate 5-10l of water in closed containers
- Pre-heat the mash tun with 2.5l of boiling water for 5-10 minutes
- Drain the mash tun, add the grain and mash in 6l of strike water to achieve a mash temperature of 66 degrees Celcius
- Mash grain for 60 minutes
- Add 2.5l of near boiling water to mash tun for mash-out. Mix well and leave for 10 minutes
- Drain and recirculate 2l of sweet wort
- Drain contents of the mash tun into the brew kettle.
- Add 6l of sparge water at 75-80 degrees to the mash tun and mix well.
- Drain and recirculate 2 l of sweet wort.
- Drain the contents of the mash tun into the brew kettle
- Bring the wort to boil
- Once the wort has been boiling for a few minutes, add the flavour hops (10g of cluster hops) and the whirlfloc tablet and boil for 15 minutes.
- Remove the heat and add the Morgans Beer Kit and the last 10g of Cluster hops (aroma). Stir the mixture very well.
- Transfer the contents of the brew kettle to the fermentor and top up to 22 litres using cold water or ice.
- Pitch the yeast once the temperature has dropped to 25 degrees or less.
- Ferment at 16-18 degrees for the best result.
