Erlenmeyer Flask - 1L
Brewing a big beer or simply looking to give your yeast a kick start? An Erlenmeyer flask is perfect for preparing yeast starters. Simply boil 1/2 cup light dried malt in two cups of water and leave to cool to ambient temperature. Pitch your yeast and cover with sanitised alfoil or plastic wrap and secure with a rubber band (alternatively a bung and airlock). Your mini wort can be boiled directly in the Erlenmeyer flask over a gas stove. Shake the starter regularly over two days, then chill in the fridge. Congratulations, you now have a healthy yeast colony, ready to pitch on brew day!
